On 19 October, the China-Finland Industrial Parks Decarbonization Forum jointly organized by the Green Partnership of Industrial Parks in China and Business Finland was held successfully online. Xia Yang, Counselor of the European Department of the Ministry of Commerce, and Marko Tiesmäki, Commercial Counselor of Business Finland made the keynote speech at the beginning of this forum. More than 70 representatives from Chinese Industrial Parks(Qingdao International Economic Cooperation Zone, Nanjing Jiangning Economic and Technological Development Zone, Nanxun Economic and Technological Development Zone, and Jiyuan Economic and Technological Development Zone) and Finnish companies(AFRY, BMH, EPSE, Geobear, Heliostorage, Nokia, Peikko, Savosolar, Vaisala, Valmet, and Wartsila) participated in this event.

"Under China's ambitious "3060" carbon peak and carbon neutral target, industrial parks are a key driving engine for China to achieve decarbonization and green transformation," said Mr. Marko Tiesmäki. In his speech, he continued "Finland, a pioneer in the low-carbon transition, has pledged to stop using coal by 2030 and become carbon neutral by 2035. Finland is not only a world leader in energy use efficiency and energy conservation, Finland's unique distributed energy system is a perfect match for the green transformation of industrial parks". Mr.Marko Tiesmäki said that Finland's long-term cooperation with China in the field of energy has been carried out. He hoped this activity may provide more opportunities for companies of both sides to discuss and know more about Finnish energy solutions, driving China's energy industry upgrade to a higher level.

 

Xia Yang, Counselor of the European Department of the Ministry of Commerce, spoke highly of this forum in his speech. He said China and Finland have carried out cooperation and exchanges in the fields of innovation, green development, 5G, and winter sports. The complementary advantages of both sides in low-carbon and circular economy are a benefit to the achievement of China's carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. Mr.Xia Yang hoped that more activities will be held in the future to seek more business chances by connecting Chinese and Finland enterprises based on mutual-benefit cooperation.

This forum aimed to build a bridge to connect expertise and technology between the Chinese and Finnish sides to facilitate deeper cooperation in the areas of energy saving, environmental protection, and intelligent manufacturing. During this forum, AFRY, BMH, EPSE, Geobear, Heliostorage, Nokia, Peikko, Savosolar, Vaisala, Valmet, and Wartsila shared their experiences and technology of energy efficiency, energy conservation and carbon reduction, circular economy, solid waste treatment, and digitization. On the Chinese side, Qingdao International Economic Cooperation Zone and Nanxun Economic and Technological Development Zone shared their development situation and expressed the need for cooperation with Finnish companies. Meanwhile, Chinese companies like Zhongrun Huagu Tech.Co., Ltd, Sichuan Guojun Tech Co., Ltd, and Huzhou Xiexin Thermal Power Company, etc also introduced their technology and expectation for cooperation.

 

Before this meeting, the GPIPC conducted research in advance on the cooperation demands for energy conservation and environmental protection between Parks and enterprises in China and Finland. Then the GPIPC conducted one-to-one pairing. The matchmaking was widely praised by the representatives of the Parks and enterprises from both sides. Preliminary cooperation intentions have been made in this matchmaking. This forum has set up a new platform for China-Finland energy conservation and environmental protection technology cooperation against the backdrop of the pandemic. In the future, the GPIPC will continue to track the needs of the park and enterprises, tap the potential of cooperation in energy conservation and environmental protection between China and Finland, and make positive contributions to promoting green and low-carbon cooperation between China and Finland.
