On the afternoon of 29 April, the Green Partnership of Industrial Parks in China(GPIPC) hosted a seminar on "Zero Carbon Demonstration Zone Creation Plan and Supporting Policy Research" in Beijing. Experts and scholars from the Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission, the Energy Foundation, the China Academy of Urban Planning and Design, the Children's Investment Foundation, the Institute of Ecological Civilisation of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Green Supply Chain and Green Consumption Alliance, the China Quality Certification Centre, representatives from the industry such as the State Power Investment Corporation and Goldwind Technology, as well as advanced development zones such as Suzhou, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Jiangning, Yantai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Hefei, Zhenjiang, etc. were invited to attend the seminar. The conference was attended by representatives from advanced development zones such as Suzhou, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Jiangning, Yantai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Hefei and Zhenjiang Development Zones, first-class international cooperation zones such as the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city and Qingdao Sino-German Eco- Park, and the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Centre, a "zero-carbon community". The participants discussed and exchanged ideas and suggestions on the scope, rules and regulations, how to create a zero-carbon demonstration zone and the policy needs involved in the research project.

The "Zero Carbon Demonstration Zone Creation Plan and Supporting Policies Research Project" is a policy research project jointly undertaken by the Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission and the GPIPC, with the support of the Energy Foundation, which will investigate and study the basis, willingness, potential, pathways and policy needs of different types of demonstration zones. The project will examine the scope of selection, evaluation criteria and support policies for zero-carbon demonstration zones based on the foundation, willingness, potential, pathways and policy needs of different types of demonstration zones. The Zero Carbon Demonstration Zones study is a forward-looking exploration of the demonstrativeness, replicability and drive of zero-carbon technologies and development models. It is a concrete action to implement further General Secretary Xi Jinping's "Double Carbon Goal".
