Brief Introduction

Suzhou Suqian Industrial Park is an important carrier for Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government to implement the national regional coordinated development strategy and promote the development of “integration throughout the province”, and an important starting point for Jiangsu Province to develop the internal circulation pattern in the new development pattern of “dual-circulation”. It is also the most important project for the cooperation between Suqian and Suzhou, and the first “going out” project of Suzhou Industrial Park. The Park has a total planned area of 21.35 square kilometers, with Putuoshan Avenue as the boundary, 8.3 square kilometers of exquisite living area on the east, and 13.05 square kilometers of efficient production area and technological innovation area on the west. It has a planned total population of 200,000. The Park gives full play to the advantages of Suzhou and Suqian, promotes the gradient industrial transfer, and develops into a demonstration zone for integrated development of industry and city, a leading zone for high-quality innovation and development, a pilot zone for system and mechanism reforms, a model zone for common prosperity of the North and the South, and a first-class regional cross-border cooperation park in China through the comprehensive development of advanced manufacturing, service and other urban functions.

Green Measures

TEIN Damper Manufacturing (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. is the first production base established by Japanese TEIN in China. Registered in November 2013, the company is located in Suzhou Suqian Industrial Park, Suqian City, covers an area of 31.6 mu, and focuses on the production of automotive dampers and piston rods. The company takes the constant promotion of cleaner production as the concept and the sustainable development goals (SDGs) as the target to promote pollution and carbon emission reduction, energy conservation and efficiency improvement.

In 2022, TEIN Damper Manufacturing (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. implemented a series of clean production projects, providing a strong support for the green and low-carbon development of the Park. First, develop electroplating fluid, cutting fluid, grinding fluid and guide oil regeneration devices, and realize an annual recovery of raw materials by about 20 tons while reducing hazardous waste generation. Second, convert the existing “partial solvent spraying” process into the “powder spraying” process, which were completed by the end of June 2022, reducing the environmental pollution of VOCs. Third, invest CNY 6.1 million in using the color steel tile roof with an effective laying area of 20,000 square meters to install and construct photovoltaic power stations with a capacity of 1.68MW and photovoltaic power generation reaching 2 million kWh/year, accounting for 60% of the total power consumption of the plant. Fourth, constantly implement carbon reduction projects. The company has scheduled 25 carbon reduction projects, 16 of which have been completed so far. The CO2 emission per damper was 11.8kg in 2016 and was expected to fall to 6.4kg in 2023.

In recent years, Suzhou-Suqian Industrial Park has focused on the service concept of “taking the lead”, providing green management services at the doors, and actively implementing the assistant mode of “pulling enterprises forward”. It has organized the compilation of management materials such as the Guide to Environmental Protection Management of Suzhou-Suqian Industrial Park, the Air Pollution Prevention and Control Management Document, and the Water Pollution Prevention and Control Management Document, providing scientific guidance for environmental protection management of enterprises. It actively explores the diversified ecological environment management mode with the participation of the management committee, enterprises, third-party technical support entities, etc., implements precise assistance actions, carries out flexible supervision, and provides services at the enterprise site to solve problems, so as to help develop a green development system, and promote the production and operation of enterprises for high-quality development.

The Park adheres to green development, reduces pollution and carbon emission, actively cultivates green plants, enhances the construction of photovoltaic power stations on the roof of enterprises in the Park, encourages enterprises to build distributed photovoltaic power stations on the roof of plants, adopts the mode of “power generation for self-use, with surplus supplying the grid”, reduces the production cost of enterprises, allows enterprises to “add assets on the roof”, and helps achieve the goal of “carbon neutrality and carbon peaking”, so as to achieve a positive interaction among economic development, resource conservation and environmental protection. Suqian Liangtai Photovoltaic Power Generation Co., Ltd. uses the roof of the existing plant of CATCHER Technology (Suqian) Co., Ltd. to develop a new 12MW distributed solar photovoltaic power generation project, with a total investment of about CNY 54 million, using 375 single crystal modules and centralized inverters, and having an average annual power generation of about 13 million kWh. TEIN Damper Manufacturing (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. invested CNY 6.1 million on its own to develop a roof photovoltaic power generation project in the plant in July 2022, which uses the color steel tile roof with an effective laying area of about 20,000 square meters to install and construct photovoltaic power stations with a capacity of 1.68MW (4-point 380V access to the low-voltage busbar to realize “power generation for self-use, with surplus supplying the grid”) and photovoltaic power generation reaching 2 million kWh/year, accounting for 60% of the total power consumption of the plant.

In January 2023, Suzhou Suqian Industrial Park issued the Work Plan for the Construction of “Waste-free City” in Suzhou Suqian Industrial Park. In future, it will focus on fighting for pollution prevention and control, constantly promote the source reduction and resource utilization of solid wastes, comprehensively improve the level of comprehensive management of solid wastes, promote the realization of synergy of pollution reduction and carbon reduction and make more efforts and attempts.
